Always be prepared for rainy day recess inside!

Dana Brooks: My name is Dana Brooks and I live in Van Buren, AR. I am the mother of one son who is a senior in high school and has signed a contract to enter the Army upon graduating high school. I was initially not hired as a teacher this year, but resigned from my position with the Department of Human Services anyway and substitute taught. I had mixed emotions about my decision. Although it would have been nice to have a teaching job, I thought that I would benefit from the substitute teaching experience. I was clueless on my first day substituting, I can just imagine how overwhelmed I would have been if had started teaching with no experience at all! And, to my surprise, the experience I gained from substituting paid off....on September 28, I was hired as a fourth grade teacher at Tilles Elementary School! I am not good at taking risks....but this is one that I am grateful that I took!
